Seating & joinery
Ines Valdbak
Copenhagen
I design chairs for people who sit badly. Which is everyone.
Trained as a boat builder before she ever drew a chair, Ines brings hull-making logic to upholstery: strong frames, soft skins, no wasted wood.
About the studio
PLINTH began in 2019 in a former print shop in Copenhagen: four walls painted oxblood, one lounge chair, and a queue round the block.
The story so far
Our founders spent years in furniture showrooms where forty chairs fought for attention and nobody won. So we tried the opposite: one piece per plinth, one color per room, and enough empty floor to walk all the way around it.
Today we work with four independent designers and seven workshops across Europe. We still paint every room ourselves, and we still think the best compliment a chair can get is a long, silent stare.

Lighting
Lisbon
A lamp is a sculpture with a day job.
Tomás spent a decade lighting theatre stages. Now he designs lamps that make a living room feel like the second act is about to start.

Ceramics & objects
Bucharest
If it fits on a shelf, I want it to argue with the books.
Mirela throws every prototype herself. Her objects are small, heavy and slightly mischievous — the kind of thing guests pick up and refuse to put down.

Storage & tables
Kyoto & Oslo
Clutter is just storage that hasn’t met the right box.
A two-person studio split across two cities and one shared obsession with drawers. They measure everything twice and the inside of a cabinet three times.
